Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary

The Data Manager position is full-time, 40 hours per week (exempt, benefit eligible) and will primarily take place at our Little Village or Humboldt Park locations. The Data Manager will supervise a Data Team. The Data Manager is responsible for performing key data management tasks to coordinate collection of accurate data, strategically communicate input and outputs through reports and narratives, analyze NLC data to improve the quality of service provided to youth, and oversee the NLC data team. May require some local travel (reimbursable). Pay commensurate with experience. This position is in-person.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages a data team responsible for the accurate entry, collection and reporting of data.
  • Manages accuracy of data entry, oversight, and timely reporting through Data team.
  • Implements data collection processes and reporting to ensure necessary measurement and reporting tools are in place for grant compliance.
  • Assess the current data tracking processes and systems used for data collection and data entry to identify ways to improve and implement solutions that meet the needs of the program.
  • Oversees the coordination of implementation of quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments and materials with the Director of Data and Program Evaluation.
  • Ensures secure storage of gathered data and confidentiality of participants.
  • Delegates tasks as necessary.
  • Clearly communicates goals and objectives to data team and maintains staff accountability.
  • Analyze and interpret data to develop and provide accurate outcome reports as requested.
  • Coordinates data system trainings and refresher trainings for staff, interns, and volunteers as necessary.
  • Assists in creating data visualizations using a variety of data programs (Excel, R, Python, etc.).
  • Assures the maintenance of up-to-date rosters and complete files; communicate updates with directors as needed.
  • Communicates regularly with Supervisor about data needs, challenges, etc.
  • Assists in identifying and implementing best practices of data metrics, collection, and analysis.
  • Conducts regular system audits to ensure internal data tracking system is accurate, reliable, and reflective of the work the NLC team provides.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data and Evaluation, the Data Team and program staff to conduct program evaluation.
  • Leads in implementation and monitoring of progress of data collection methods.
  • Assist in the creation of dashboards in our data system(s) to ensure that NLC staff at all levels of the organization can have access to the data needed.
  • Provides regular follow up with data staff to meet goals and maintain team wellness.
  • Supervision includes on-site visits, regular check-ins, and break-out planning meetings.
  • Assures documentation of all participant contacts and services provided and assists data team and development team with data collection and required reporting.
  • Assists in determining mentor caseloads when needed ensuring appropriate matches.
  • Participates in required evaluations.
  • Assists with required audits.
  • Demonstrates New Life Centers’ values.
  • Attends required meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter. Training provided.
  • Must pass a background check, must not have any pending cases.
  • Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
  • Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
  • Must have a working phone and phone number.
  • One year experience working with data systems and analysis.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in people management.
  • Completed relevant coursework/field of study (data analytics, sociology, psychology, criminology)
  • Cross-cultural competency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Highly administrative.
  • Highly detail orientated.
  • Ability to effectively work independently, problem-solve, multi-task and take initiative.
  • High organization and detail-oriented skill ability.
  • Knowledge of other database software a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be willing to be trained, and proficiently utilize database(s) and information tracking systems relevant to duties.
  • Must keep confidentiality of participant information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license, insurance, good driving record, access to a vehicle. Subject to driving background check.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
