JOB SUMMARY

The CNC Machinist III responsible for preparing raw materials according to Machine Shop needs as well as operating various machine tools, including but not limited to: CNC Lathe, Bridgeport Style Mills, Tool Room Lathes, Drill Presses, Surface Grinders, Tool Post Grinders, Drill Sharpeners, Horizontal Band saws, Vertical Band saws, Belt Sanders, and Bench Grinders. but also act as a resource for other Machinist.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Job Functions:
The Machinist III will provide reliable and timely support and guidance of other machinist activities as follows:
- Set up & operate a variety of machine tools to produce parts
- CNC multi axis Lathe experience
- CNC Swiss Lathe experience
- Calculate dimensions & tolerances using micrometers & calipers.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, mills, manual & CNC machines
- Measure, examine, and test completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
- Prioritize and coordinate machine shop assignments.
- Follow through with all assignments, communicating effectively throughout process
- Maintain machines and a clean, organized work area on daily basis
- Maintain all documentation and follow procedures and specifications
- Participate in R&D, product design projects, new products and procedures as needed.
- Display a willingness to lead and participate in all Machine Shop activities
- Successfully perform the essential functions of the job by properly interpreting situations, demonstrating
- Train and mentor co-workers in job functions, as necessary
- Adhere to shop and safety procedures
- All other duties as needed All other duties as needed to assist the company in attaining its objectives
- Must be able to work overtime when needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position primarily involves use of fine motor skills for equipment. Good vision is required for reading of diagrams and projects. Process may require sitting or standing in the same position for long periods of time as needed to work a particular product.

SKILLS
- Ability to Read, Interpret, and Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances utilizing micrometers & calipers
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess a strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office
- Able to function in a dynamic, fast paced, environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- EXPERIENCE – 5+ years of related experience preferred
- EDUCATION – Completion of sixty (60) hour CNC Programming Course, AA degree or AA equivalent preferred. Verification of education may be required as a condition of employment. Candidates will be expected to provide a copy of their degree or transcripts.Experience and Education can be an equivalent combination of preferred qualifications
This position will perform work at a workstation which may involve sitting or standing for long periods of time. Workstations will be located on the Machinist Shop which, on occasion, may be exposed to mechanical, chemical, and/or electrical hazards. Each employee is to maintain a clean and safe workplace to remove, as much as possible, any hazards which may exist. This position may require the ability to work overtime as needed to maintain the production flow.
