Primary Position Objectives

Working with Materials Manager in duties related to the business of purchasing following established policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Description of Duties

  • Assists manager in negotiating terms.
  • Reviews requisitions, purchase orders, etc, for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assists in searching out alternate vendors or suppliers.
  • Releases materials for shipment.
  • Maintains raw material inventory reports.
  • Creates RM item codes.
  • Quotes raw material for all repeat job.
  • Places orders with China and maintains tracking of incoming and outgoing parts.
  • Provides administrative support to the Materials Manager.
  • Establishes and maintains a variety of files and records.
  • Expedite open orders for material and outside services.
  • Tracks & maintains reports on supplier performance.

Lean Initiatives

  • Observes company processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Participates in Lean Projects.

Other

  • Maintains adherence to company policies, environmental and safety standards, and good housekeeping standards.
  • May be required to assist or otherwise instruct other personnel.
  • Performs other duties as may be required.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School graduate or demonstration of equivalent skills.
  • Basic knowledge of raw material & outside processes such as heat treat and plating.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of business English, punctuation, math, and spelling.
  • Ability to work independently to carry out assignments to completion with minimum instructions; adhere to prescribed routines and practice.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to learn and apply accrued knowledge to standard purchasing procedures.
  • Ability to design and maintain pertinent reports as required
  • Comfortable with computer word processing and Excel spreadsheets.
