EMPLOYER: Progressive Spine & Orthopaedics

SUMMARY: Serves as initial contact for all patients visiting the office. Also serves as the X-Ray Technician which duties include explaining procedures to patients, calibrating imaging equipment and preparing results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answers, screens, and directs calls on multi-line phone system; takes detailed messages and/or forwards telephone calls to appropriate practitioner, voice mail, or pager.
  • Clears messages each morning and delivers to appropriate practitioner.
  • Meets and greets patients; announces, directs, and/or escorts to appropriate area.
  • Opens and routes incoming mail.
  • Composes and types routine correspondence as required.
  • Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing as required.
  • Keeps reception area organized.
  • Following instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging.
  • Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety.
  • Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position.
  • Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient.
  • Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding.
  • Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in radiologic technology.
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in a healthcare facility as an x-ray or radiology technician.
  • Must have the required medical licenses to operate in a given area.
  • Must have a clear understanding of how to handle and operate medical imaging equipment.
  • Must display a high level of flexibility in the process of carrying out assigned duties and dual responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to share updates with patients and other medical staff.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Superb customer service skills to provide ongoing support to patients and their families.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor are required at all times.
