An award winning medical center is searching for a strong, experienced Medical Surgical Nurse Supervisor to lead a busy department in the sunny state of New Mexico

The Medical Surgical Nurse Supervisor will join a community oriented medical center which has earned national recognition for excellence in a wide variety of specialties. This medical center is a part of a large health system which serves communities all throughout the western states. This 150+ Bed medical center is a Level 3 Trauma Center and has been selected as a Top Hospital by the New Mexico Hospital Association. This team emphasizes the importance of meaningful social impact and adopts best practices to promote preventative care in their community. 

The Medical Surgical Nurse Supervisor will report directly to their Unit Nurse Manager and will collaborate with the Assistant Nurse Manager and fellow Unit Supervisors to ensure that the department’s day to day operations run smoothly. They will also lead a team of Charge Nurses, Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while being actively involved on the floor. The Medical Surgical Nurse Supervisor will oversee a unit which cares for a wide variety of patients who require Short Term Acute Care services. They will be responsible for monitoring admissions from the Emergency Department and helping evaluate the level of care needed for each patient.

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring safe and smooth day-to-day clinical operations of their unit and will monitor all admissions, discharges and transfers to units with a higher level of acuity. The Nurse Supervisor will be involved in the process of hiring new Registered Nurses and will be involved in their training process. The Nurse Supervisor will help select qualified Preceptors and monitor the completion of their staff members' clinical competency requirements. The Medical Surgical Nurse Supervisor will also demonstrate a high level of professionalism and utilize excellent organizational skills when planning the schedule for their unit.
