Description:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life in the Residential Colleges, Faculty Fellows will be responsible for providing students with exceptional residential academic experiences and enhancing OU’s residential community with an emphasis in student development, retention, and sense of belonging among residents of the Residential Colleges, Couch Center, Walker Center, Cross Village, and David L Boren Hall.

The Department of Housing and Residence Life at The University of Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for Faculty Fellow positions beginning July 2024. **The successful candidate must be an active Faculty member at the University of Oklahoma**Of particular interest are candidates who are committed to making a difference in society through academic excellence. Responsibilities include: 
  1. Plan, organize, and facilitate at least 1 major event per semester geared towards the academic and/or personal development mission of the Residential Life team. 
    1. These would generally take place in in the evening, M-Th, and would run approximately 1-1.5 hours. These are flexible - you could be the main presenter (e.g., about your work/discipline) or you could be a part of a panel.  You could bring in someone else to give a presentation.  There is a myriad of possibilities.
    Attend and support the events put on by the other Faculty Fellows and major events planned by the Faculty in Residence team. (About 1-2 events per semester)Attend planning lunches every other week with the Faculty in Residence team and other Faculty Fellows.Have a presence in assigned residential community, including dining facilities.

***There will be a $1250 stipend a semester for the Fall and Spring Semesters***

 Tools/Technical Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Faculty Fellows are required to have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor. All other tools are knowledge-based or training-based through the University of Oklahoma. The Faculty Member must be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat and must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable. The use of Canvas will be required. Training is available through the University.

Licensing/Certification:
Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education. Faculty Fellows must maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue to teach at OU and serve as a Faculty Fellow. Faculty Fellows are also expected to stay current with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. Faculty Fellows cannot be on sabbatical during their time in the role.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: ·      Earned degree from an accredited program.·      Been employed as full-time faculty for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2024.·      Minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring/·      Interest in establishing a community of students.·      Ability to provide leadership and support in program assessment.·      Ability to assume a significant role in addressing student questions and concerns from the community.·      Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change.·      Ability to work with non-traditional students. Required Skills: ·      Strong interpersonal skills·      Good writing skills·      Dedication to students’ success and high standards of teaching·      Evidence of effective teaching skills and online communication·      Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues.
