Job Description

The role of the Supervising Advance Practice Nurse (SAPN) in TS, CC, and VAT is to manage patient care, oversee APP performance and maintain standards of practice. The SAPN utilizes advanced practice nursing expertise to provide care to patients in Trauma, Critical Care and Vascular Access. Other responsibilities for the SAPN include management of staff orientation, consultation and evaluation for patients, families, and health care team members. Works collaboratively with Physicians, Nursing Director, and Managers to identify patient care and staff development needs. Conducts quality practices and data collection in collaboration with all health care disciplines. Directs and supervises professional and paraprofessional staff members within the prescribed areas as assigned. Participates in staff development programs, patient/family education programs, performance improvement and education programs for patients and staff.

Qualifications

Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Three (3) years of nursing experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care, Medical/Surgical or Perioperative services required. One year of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Emergency, Critical Care, Adult or Family preferred. Demonstrates effective leadership competencies to be carried out in the day-to-day activities of the department. One (1) year of supervisory/managerial experience preferred. BLS (CPR) and ACLS required. Computer literacy required.
