Position Summary:

Prairie State College seeks an innovative adjunct faculty member to teach an on-campus 16-week ENG 101 (Composition 1) in the Fall ’24 semester on Tuesdays 4:00-6:50 pm, beginning August 20. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching writing; the ability to engage a diverse student population; and familiarity with research/scholarship concerning pedagogy in the composition classroom and the community college environment. The English Department offers a collegial and supportive faculty peer environment, with opportunities for substantive faculty development.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Availability Tuesdays 4-6:50 pm for the Fall 2024 semester. Priority will be given to applicants with graduate coursework and/or training in the teaching of writing; experience teaching in community college environment; completed coursework/credential for online pedagogy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English.

Anticipated Work Hours and Days:

Availability Tuesdays 4-6:50 pm for the Fall 2024 semester.

Salary:

Commiserate with PSC Adjunct scale
