Work can be performed by a Nurse Practitioner.
We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process.
In performing Disability Assessments, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran.
You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
The Nurse Practitioner DOES NOT make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations.
This role ONLY performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will NOT treat, and you will NOT prescribe medication in this position.
This position performs Disability Assessments on 3-5 Veterans per day.
Schedule 2 days per week (8am-4pm), Monday & Friday
This is an IN-PERSON position.
Key Attributes
- Interested in performing Independent Medical Assessments.
- Able to analyze data from the medical records and exam findings to complete the questionnaire and form medical opinions.
- Skilled in time management, able to stay on task and meet requirements.
- Proficiently use a computer.
Requirements
- Must hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.

Performing Disability Assessments
Nurse Practitioner license: Hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license
Medical assessment experience: Experience in performing medical assessments on United States Veterans
Electronic medical record review: Ability to review medical records electronically through a web portal
In-person physical exam: Capability to perform focused, in-person physical exams on each Veteran
Documentation: Skilled in electronically documenting exam findings required by the VA through the web portal
Disability determinations: Understand that the Nurse Practitioner DOES NOT make disability determinations, as they are made by the United States Veterans Administration
Time management: Proficient in time management and staying on task to meet requirements
Computer proficiency: Proficiently use a computer for electronic record review and documentation
Schedule: Able to work 2 days per week (8am-4pm), Monday & Friday
In-person position: This is an IN-PERSON position, with a typical day consisting of 3 to 5 patients
