Position:

Towson University invites applications for a one-year, full-time lecturer position to teach first-year writing beginning in August 2024.



Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a master’s degree or higher in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or a closely-related field and have experience teaching first-year writing. ABD candidates, especially those in Rhetoric and Composition or Writing Studies, are invited to apply. Graduate coursework in composition theory and pedagogy and/or participation in professional development related to pedagogy is desirable, as instructors will be expected to participate in curricular and pedagogical initiatives focused around ENGL 102.



Responsibilities:

4/4 course-load of ENGL 102 for the year. Participation in scholarly activities in proportion to teaching. No service expectations.



The Department:

The English Department, under the leadership of the Director of First-Year Writing, offers approximately 120 sections of first-year writing (ENGL 102) each academic year. These courses are staffed by tenured and tenure-track faculty, lecturers, and adjunct faculty. More than two-thirds of these sections are taught by lecturers. The advertised positions reflect an ongoing commitment to increasing the number of sections staffed by full-time instructors.
