Job Description

Schwend, Inc. is hiring a CDL A Regional Walking Floor Company Driver Between Tampa FL & Tifton GA who will be hauling dry bulk agriculture products in a walking floor trailer (similar to a dump trailer with a moving floor) throughout the southeast states of FL, GA, AL, TN, NC, & SC. If you have never pulled a walking floor, no worries, we will train you

Mr. Charles and Mrs. Judy are now retired, but if you ever stop by our terminal in Dade City are you likely to see them around the office. Jeff (Judy and Charles son) took over the company after his parents retired and is now our company President and fearless leader Over the last 47 years, we have built a strong customer base in the Southeast, hauling many types of agricultural products. We have grown some since 1976 and we now have a total of 4 terminals inDade City FL, Tampa FL, Jasper TN, and Elko ,GA. Due to our continuing growth, we are actively searching for professional, reliable, drivers to join our family We are licensed to run all 48 states, but we primarily stay in the southeast.

Compensation:

  • Average gross weekly pay: $1,000- $1,300
    • Drivers are paid23% grossof each load
    • 1% gross pay increase after year 1 & 2
  • Additional Pay:
    • Nightly Per Diem: $30/per night spent in truck
      • Goes directly to your paycheck and is not taxed
    • Additional Weekend Per Diem: $75 flat on top of normal nightly per diem
    • Detention & Layover Pay (differs per customer)
  • Bonuses:
    • Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 paid in $100 increments per week over the course of a year
    • Driver Referral Program: Up to $2,500
    • Quarterly Fuel Bonus & Safety Bonus
  • Paid via direct deposit weekly

    • $250 pet deposit required
  • Take your truck home program
    • Must have a safe, off-road location to store truck & trailer to qualify

Home Time, Route & Schedule:

  • Home Time: Home weekly,most weekends
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
    • Occasional weekend work may be required
  • Route: Running primarily FL, GA, AL, TN, NC, SC
    • We have dedicated customers that we haul for year-round
  • Level of Touch: Less than tarping a flatbed or off loading a DG Truck but more than just bumping docks

Equipment:

  • New & Late Model Volvo & Kenworth automatic trucks
  • Amenities: Mattresses, APUs and Inverters
  • Governed speed: 69 on cruise
    • Safe Driving Program: After 1-year of no moving violations we bump cruise up to 70mph and after 2-years of no moving violations we bump up to 72mph
  • No Slip Seating
  • No driver facing cameras

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have CDL A license
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
  • 0 DUI/DWIs in last 10 years
  • Less than 3 points on your MVR
  • No careless or reckless driving within the last 10 years
  • Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations
  • Must be able to pass a required pre-employment drug screen
    • Cannot have any history of refusing drug screening or have a record of failing a previous drug test
  • Drivers must be able to provide CB Radio & Steel Toe Shoes
