Job Description

Position: HR Generalist
Location: Brewster, NY
Work modality: 100% in-office

The HR Generalist is directly responsible for overseeing all human resource functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training, and benefits. This role works closely with the HR Director and business owner to ensure Hardscrabble Farms is a place where teams love to work.

Key Responsibilities of the HR Generalist:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and making job offers.
  • Maintain accurate employee data and records.
  • Handle employee relations issues, such as conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Establish a trusting environment for employees to engage openly with HR.
  • Communicate HR-related policies and procedures to business units.
  • Provide knowledgeable and timely responses to employee inquiries.
  • Contribute new ideas to support continuous improvement of the HR team.
  • Proactively manage recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and training.
  • Monitor and record sick and vacation time.
  • Handle paperwork related to leaves of absence (FML, PFL), Worker's Compensation, and DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing.
  • Review and complete Employer Shared Responsibility (ESR) for 1094C/1095C.
  • Provide administrative support to supervisors as needed.
  • Assist with offboarding employees as necessary.

What we are looking for in an HR Generalist:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Alternatively, 4 or more years of work-related experience in Human Resources may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources policies, operations, and processes.
  • High degree of integrity, ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent computer software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
