This position is responsible for designing and developing sprinkler systems to prevent or aid fires. Their responsibilities revolve around performing research and analysis, utilizing feedback from customers and other experts, and coordinating with engineers and technicians.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and technical drawings.
Coordinate with project managers, installation teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and follow all OSHA standards and laws.
Attend regular development meetings.
Provide updates to purchasing as installation schedule or change orders require modifications to meet installation schedule and deadlines and other requirements.
Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process.
Stock list projects for fabrication and approve fabrication quotes.
Make revisions to models as requested.
Keep up to date on all modern advancements in material and software technologies.
Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling.
Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
Analyze and verify all hydraulic calculations to ensure adequate water delivery in the event of a fire condition emergency.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
At least 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
NICET l in water-based systems layout (preferred).
Minimum 2-year degree in related field (preferred).
Bachelor's or Certifications (preferred).
Minimum 2 years working in a professional environment.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
An abundance of patience to see a complicated project to the end.
Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner.
Other Duties:
Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
