ER RN position available in small 88 bed hospital near Panama City Beach Florida and Tallahassee.

Hospital # of beds:\tSmall community healthcare system, licensed for 100-beds, usual occupancy is around 88-beds. They are constantly growing & expanding

IV pumps: \tBaxter Sigma

EMR:\tCPSI - Evident Thrive (They feel their EMR is really good & easy to learn)
General Orientation:\tTravelers will receive a pre-orientation packet containing policies/procedures, etc.
Actual orientation is 1 day
Parking:\tParking by the ER is free for staff, about 100 yards to the door
Cafeteria:\tOpen 7am -6 pm. Cafeteria is managed by a restaurant chain called Morrison's. The food they serve here is really good NOT your typical cafeteria food.
Special Notes:\t1) Clocking in & out using the hospital system is required. Travelers still need to have their supervisors sign their time cards & send a copy to their recruiter.
2) Housing available in Dothan, AL @ Daybreak Suites for approximately $200/Week. Also could try Chipley.

Fast Track area is open 9am-9pm (normal hours were 7am-11pm but recently their census has been down by about 25 patients/day)

(Even though they are not a trauma center they get some traumas off the highway or from the nearby prisons)
# Psych/seclusion rooms \t1 Seclusion room
# patients per day \tNormally they see an average of 85 patients/day but recently the census has been down somewhat so currently they are seeing between 50-70/day, with a daily average of 60/day.
Certs/Requirements \tBLS, ACLS, PALS, & NIHSS are required.
TNCC is strongly recommended & would be a huge plus
*Must have triage experience*
Ratios\tRatios are 1:3, sometimes 1:2
EMR\tEPOWERdoc
Charge Nurse\t24/7 Charge Nurse - Does not take a patient assignment. They will facilitate transfers & assist with higher acuity patients. Travelers would not be placed as charge.
Nurse Aides/Paramedics \tParamedics are staffed in the main ER & PCT are staffed in fast track
Security/Patient sitters \tArmed security guards in -house, staffed 24/7 & stationed n the ER lobby
Sitters when warranted
Shifts/Schedules\tHours: 7a-7p;7p-7a. They also have 2 mid-shifts from 11a-11p or 3p-3a. Manager will let us know what shift the need is for. Shifts/schedules consist of a very specific rotation: 7 on/7 off. The 1st 4 days will be 8's, the remaining 3 days will be 12's. Schedules start on Thursday & end on Wednesday the following week. OT is usually NOT available.
Weekend Requirement\tEvery other weekend is worked into the pre-set schedule rotation
Holidays\tStaff is expected to work whatever holidays fall into their pre-set schedule rotation
Scrub Color\tSlate grey, navy, white, or black (NO PRINTS)
Tele/Monitor Techs\tTele Monitors are Neon Kohden. They have a central monitor station, as well as monitors hard-wired in each room.
LPNs act as monitor techs & ward clerks. They can also put in orders when it is busy. When they get a surge they can break away & help.
RT/Vents\tDedicated Respiratory Therapist in the ER 24/7. They manage all vents, do all breathing treatments, & EKGs.
ED Physicians/Mid-Levels\tThey have both Physicians & Midlevels. NPs run the fast track area. Sometimes the Fast Track hours overlap with the main ER, so they will also help in the main ER if they have a Surge. Sometimes they have double coverage during their busy time from 3p - 7p.
Lab Draws \tNurses will draw their own labs. No phlebotomy in the ER. They have a tube system to send specimens directly to the lab.
IV Team\tNo IV Team. There are several staff that are PICC & Midline certified that can assist with difficult IV sticks.
Floating\tNo floating outside of the ER.
Floor specific orientation\t1 shift then on their own. This has worked well & has never been a problem. Their EMR system is easy to learn.
Common diagnosis / Types of patients\tThey see approximately 30,000 patients/year.
Typical ER patients. They do tele-neurology with their neuro patients. Strokes are drip & ships. Keep some STEMI, some ship. They only do diagnostic heart caths here. All critical cardiac patients are sent out.
NOTE: They have 5 Nursing Homes in the area & 5 Prisons. They also have a State facility that houses mentally challenged adults. When COVID hit hard they had an influx from these facilities. They use common order sets based on chief complaints.
