Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, the Manager of Pharmacy Clinical Services and Operations is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and providing oversight of the clinical services provided by the pharmacy department. In addition, the Manager of Pharmacy Clinical Services and Operations will utilize computerized resources to ensure safe and effective drug utilization, collaborate with other clinical service providers, such as nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals daily. When necessary, the Manager of Pharmacy Clinical Services and Operations, will verify orders and write orders based on established protocols, provide consultation and patient education., coordinate and closely review activities of pharmacy technicians to ensure efficient operations in accordance with federal and state regulations and hospital policies and procedures.   • Department Operations:
  • Plan, monitor and evaluate activities, assignments, and equipment consistent with established procedures and good patient care/customer service, including establishing department scope of service.
  • Conduct staff meetings and periodic in-service and educational opportunities for staff a minimum of six times a year. Interview and select qualified candidates consistent with HR policies and procedures and Trios Health values. Monitor and coach employees for maximum performance utilizing appropriate corrective action plans as necessary to improve performance/behavior deficiencies.
  • Develop and monitor goal results.
  • Develop and submit reports and forms on time (e.g. board reports, orientation checklists, performance evaluations, financial reports, and 90-day action plans).

 

 

 

 

  • Fiscal Management:
  • Participate in managing the department budget, financial and capital expenditures within established guidelines.
  • Monitor department-specific reports/results (e.g. responsibility, productivity, labor distribution) and manage budget successfully.

 

  • Interpersonal Relations:
  • Utilize and encourage a variety of communication means, both written and verbal, to facilitate positive interaction and information sharing. Promote and support an environment for high morale, teamwork and cooperative spirit.
  • Follow established complaint resolution procedures (e.g. Grievance/Dispute Resolution, Patient Relations).
  • Actively participate and contribute on various committees, teams, and task forces.

 

  • Performance Improvement:
  • Establish and monitor quality standards and controls. Follow Plan-Do-Check-Act process for performance improvement, which includes identification of barriers and contingency plans.
  • Assess patient/customer needs in relation to the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. Plan and set goals, soliciting staff input to facilitate buy-in and understanding.

 

  • Compliance:
  • Develop, review, update, and enforce policies and procedures to reflect compliance with Medicare (HCFA), Medicaid, JCAHO, and other Federal and State requirements. Review and follow-up on incident reports.

 

  • Civic Activities:
  • Represent Trios Health at civic and community organizations and events and represents Trios Health at all Trios Health sponsored events, when requested.

  1. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Coordinates development and implementation of systems and policies and procedures for effective pharmacy services in conjunction with other members of the Pharmacy team.
  • Participates in the Process Improvement and Quality Management programs and assures compliance of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Meets regularly with the management team to plan, revise or implement new services, and/or policies and procedures.
  • Meets regularly with team members to share information, provide guidance, and review and resolve issues.
  • Assures compliance with Safety and Infection Control practices as well as meeting legal requirements within areas designated.
  • Coordinates scheduling and supervision of team members as appropriate to achieve operational goals
  • Participates in candidate interviews and makes recommendations for hire.
  • Participates in all personnel management issues involving team members.
  • Coordinates written performance evaluations for pharmacist and technician team members and reviews each evaluation with the team members within the specified period.
  • Is responsible for pharmacy operations in the absence of the Director of Pharmacy Services.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills in both verbal and nonverbal communication behaviors.
  • Manage technology and automation to allow for optimum resources.
  • Maintains current knowledge in Pharmacy and management issues by attending seminars, reading journals, etc.
  • Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Trios Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Trios Health policies and procedures.

This is designated as a safety sensitive position. 

Salary: 64.07 - $97.53
