Job DescriptionDescription

Under the general direction and supervision of the manager, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the complex and critical job of endoscope and equipment decontamination / reprocessing and is the departmental expert in this vitally important area. The incumbent may be assigned to assisting with equipment & procedure room preparation, setup, calibration prior to procedures; procedure room breakdown; specimen collection in the GI LAB, inventory control, and scope reprocessing. Responsible for testing, arranging repair and documentation of endoscope processing and repair.

\tSalary Range: 32.52-43.35Qualifications

At least one year of Surg Tech/GI Tech experience, required

\t  Knowledge and adherence to GI Lab policies and procedures following orientation.

\t Skill in reading documents written in Standard English text such as, administrative policy and procedure manuals.

\tSkill in evaluation and implementation of technical information such as operation manuals and directions for use of disinfectants, lubricants and other cleaning agents.

\tSkill in speaking clearly and distinctly to obtain and convey information to various levels within the organization.

\tWriting skills sufficient to use appropriate vocabulary and grammar when logging, reporting etc.

\tAbility to speak on a one to one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and provide information.

\tAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all team members and ancillary staff.

\tSkill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.

\tSkill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect importance to job responsibilities.

\tAbility to work independently and interdependently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.

\tAbility to adapt to change either in workload or in assignments.

\tSkill and manual dexterity required to work with intricate equipment without dropping or damaging it.

\t         Ability to stand for prolonged time periods

\t       Required- completion of education from accredited surgical technician program or certified as GI Technician

\tBLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross, required
