Summary:
A Psychologist is an individual licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for the independent practiced of psychology who is not a member of the Medical/Dental Staff. They are responsible for providing psychological assessments and interventions to patients and families and for supporting the strategic priorities of Children's Health and expanding the knowledge base of effective treatment and care. Psychologists have the potential for recognition as UTSW psychology faculty by way of affiliation with UTSW psychology program.

Responsibilities:
* Clinical care of patients including assessments through interviews, chart/history review, and psychological testing procedures; treatment including individual, play, group or family psychotherapy.

* Integration of psychological service provision in the patient’s plan of care in partnership with the multidisciplinary team

* Contribute to program improvement initiatives.

* Support for department priorities and the academic mission of the system.
*
* Develop and share content expertise in evidence-based treatments.

* *Conduct clinical research in projects which are in line with Children's mission and hospital/department applicable service line goals*.
*
* *Provide direct supervision to students and trainees who are providing clinical care and/or participating in research or outcome measure initiatives*
*
* Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job
*
* * Psychologists hired prior to 2005 do not carry these responsibilities

* One year internship or postdoctoral experience commensurate with area of practice

EDUCATION
* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Req
* Doctoral program accredited by the American/Canadian Psychological Association at time of graduation Req
* Predoctoral internship accredited by the American/Psychological Association. Req

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Texas Req
* Must become certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology or American Board of Sleep Medicine within 7 years of obtaining privileges per departmental requirements. Psychologists hired prior to 2005 are exempt from this requirement.

* In the event a Psychologist does not met the requirements to sit for the Board due to role/specialty, the Division Chief/Chief Psychologist has the latitude to substitute or extend this requirement to fit the individual role. Req
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 60 Days, Req
