What You'll Do:

We are looking for you to join the Compute Engineering team as an Engineer IV, and exhibit technical leadership to identify, design, drive, and implement transformational technologies to support the current and future needs of Edward Jones. The Compute Engineering Team is responsible for back-end compute infrastructure equipment, hypervisors, operating systems, and tertiary management platforms for the Edward Jones Enterprise Computing Services department. The environment consists of over 7,000 physical and virtual Linux and Windows servers, VMware virtualization platform, and over 500 hypervisor hosts. Our current high priority initiatives include a large-scale compute hardware refresh, advancing operational efficiencies, enhanced monitoring, and Day 2 activity outsourcing.

Here are a few of the key responsibilities you would be a part of:
  • Identify, procure, and integrate best-of-breed compute technologies to support on-prem environments.
  • Design and implement virtualization platform running on VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Design and implement Enterprise Red Hat Linux and Windows platforms (physical & virtual).
  • Design, implement, and support vendor tools including Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, Dell OpenManage, HPE OneView, IBM Turbonomic, and VMware Cloud Foundation platforms.
  • Author and maintain architectural diagrams, workflow diagrams, standards, policy and procedures.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Research automation products, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the industry.

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Hiring Minimum: $96471
Hiring Maximum: $164262

Skills/Requirements

What Experience You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant experience
  • 7+ years' experience in RedHat Linux Server System Administration, including :
    • 3+ or more years' experience in Microsoft Windows Server OS Administration.
    • Expertise with large and complex Infrastructure initiatives using Ansible, PowerShell, and other common scripting/programming languages (Python, YAML, Bash, PowerCLI).
    • Ability to participate in 24×7 on-call rotation.
    • Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation.
    • Understanding of Hardware, Operating Systems, Security, Storage, and Network Technologies.
    • Ability to develop complex technical requirements and system designs with an understanding of business and technical implications.

***This position has an mandatory 24×7 on-call schedule (8 week rotation)***

***Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday***
