Gravel Train Driver Role Summary:
Join our team as a Gravel Train Driver where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of landscaping and demolition materials to designated destinations. You'll conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, adhering to DOT regulations and maintaining knowledge of area roads. Your primary responsibility is to operate specialized trucks with lead and pup trailers, navigating local roads and highways while adhering to DOT regulations and safety standards. The Gravel Train Driver will communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel, and maintain accurate records of deliveries. This role requires a valid CDL Class A license with double endorsement, prior experience in gravel train operations, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Gravel Train Driver Role Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Safely drive trucks to and from destinations, navigating city streets and tight conditions while hauling materials like sand and demolition material.
- Handle truck controls for the safe loading and unloading of materials at various locations, including landfills and sandpits.
- Verify directions with yard/field personnel to ensure accurate deliveries to customers and job sites.
- Strive to meet and exceed customer expectations consistently.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness using approved cleaning materials and supplies.
- Keep in contact with supervisors/dispatch to receive and transmit delivery instructions.
- Assist other company employees as needed and take guidance from supervisors and management.
- Foster a team-oriented environment, cooperating with coworkers and promoting a positive work culture.
- Adhere to all Company, DOT, and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards in all job functions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Gravel Train Driver Role Requirements:
- Valid CDL Class A license with double endorsement
- Minimum 1 year of prior gravel train experience, including lead + pup trailer, ten axles, pulling a "Triple ten"
- Clean driving record in the last 5 years and ability to maintain a clean driving record during employment
- Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen and DOT physical (must provide medical card)
- Experience operating trucks with air-brakes
- Able to pass background check
- Willingness to undergo MVR check post-interview before offer
