Work can be performed by a Nurse Practitioner.
We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process.
In performing Disability Assessments, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran.
You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
The Nurse Practitioner DOES NOT make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations.
This role ONLY performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will NOT treat, and you will NOT prescribe medication in this position.
This position performs Disability Assessments on 3-5 Veterans per day.
Schedule 2 days per week (8am-4pm), Monday & Friday
This is an IN-PERSON position.
Key Attributes
- Interested in performing Independent Medical Assessments.
- Able to analyze data from the medical records and exam findings to complete the questionnaire and form medical opinions.
- Skilled in time management, able to stay on task and meet requirements.
- Proficiently use a computer.
Requirements
- Must hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.

Performing Disability Assessments
Nurse Practitioner License: Must hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license
Web Portal Access: Must be able to access and navigate a web portal for reviewing medical records electronically
Physical Exam Skills: Must be able to perform focused, in-person physical exams on United States Veterans
Documentation Skills: Must be able to electronically document exam findings required by the VA through the web portal
Independence: Must be comfortable making medical opinions based on analysis of medical records and exam findings
Time Management: Must be skilled in time management, staying on task and meeting requirements
Computer Proficiency: Must be proficient in using a computer for accessing and documenting information through the web portal
Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively with veterans during exams and throughout the assessment process

Master's Degree
