Position Summary:
Sovah Danville is seeking a full-time night shift Paramedic to respond to calls for emergency medical services and provide patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
- Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location.
- Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
- Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
- Administers emergency medical care within the scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to the receiving medical facility.
- Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations and follows directives.
- Maintains equipment, restocks supplies, and cleans ambulance as necessary.
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required and graduate of an EMT Paramedic program.
Required Skills:
- Ability to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergencies.
- Requires flexibility in scheduling with the ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire.
- Current licensure by the state of Virginia as an EMT-Paramedic.
Minimum Work Experience:
- One year field experience as a Paramedic is required.
