Job Description

Overview: As part of Merrill: A Keel Company's APEX team you will be given one of several roles related to evaluating, creating, documenting, and following through the processing steps required for machining and manufacturing projects utilizing ERP/IFS systems. You may also be responsible for job routers, assisting with cost capture, supply chain, program management, quality management, programmers, launch teams, and inventory managers to ensure efficiency in cost and quantity of material, accuracy of shop floor packets, quality of the finished product, and that all system data is entered correctly and maintained with integrity.




Job Functions:



  • Process and route machining and manufacturing projects
  • Concept and design fixtures, tooling, and create manufacturing drawings utilizing solidworks
  • Perform program kickoff meetings with plants
  • Review cost history upon project completion and update process sheets and routers for future repeatability
  • Identify appropriate materials, tooling, sources for outside services, and cost improvements.
  • Accountable for completing in a timely manner and identifying the
    most effective and efficient methods for processing machining and
    manufacturing projects for the employing entity.
  • High visibility and effectiveness toward product quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction
  • Enter Processing/Structure and Routing in IFS.

  • Report to Launch Manager on progress and assist with identifying actual and potential issues.

  • Understand customer requirements and ensure that the Structure complies with customer requirements.

  • Communicate with Project Managers, Manufacturing, Quality and
    Processing team to align activities in support of product launch
    schedules.

  • Work in 2D and 3D CAD to extract dimensions and outlines for processing.
  • Process Engineering changes following our configuration management process.

  • PLM data management of customer supplied models and drawings.

    \t
  • Completing engineering changes in a timely
    fashion, capturing cost of changes, communicate with affected
    departments of changes. Maintain Accuracy.

  • Utilize strong organizational and communication skills

  • Read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings, GD&T. OSp. and MIL-Standards

Qualifications:



  • \t
  • High School Diploma or GED
    \t
  • Five (5) years in machine tool industry
    \t
  • Strong organizational skills, extensive knowledge of various
    machinery (mills, lathes, welders, etc.) as applicable to the business
    group, excellent communications and leadership skills.

  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including interpretation of
    mechanical and assembly drawings, GD&T, ISO and MIL-Standards, GMP
    Standard, customer quality and processing specifications, computer/
    typing skills and materials and secondary or special processes
  • Exceptional organizational and communication abilities, multitasking with multiple projects.

  • Proficient in complex ERP systems workflows.

  • Familiarity with IFS

  • Ability to work with others in all administrative/manufacturing departments.

  • Preferred candidates have 2 - 4 years on the job manufacturing
    experience in any of the following areas: defense, aviation, heavy
    equipment, energy, or machine tool. Experience in 2D and 3D CAD for
    extracting basic dimensions and outlines
