Is a Chicago-based nonprofit that removes barriers to employment by eliminating biases that disqualify candidates unnecessarily. Working with local and global companies, Skills brings opportunities to neighborhoods and municipalities throughout the Chicagoland area.

To be eligible for Skills for Chicagoland’s Future’s services, candidates must reside in Chicagoland (Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, or Will County in Illinois), and be either unemployed or underemployed, defined as working fewer than 32 hours per week or outside their field.

• Janitorial - Offices, shipping and receiving, and the production area
• Painting
• Organize patterns according to the shape and size
• Packaging for shipment
• Be willing to be trained in the following:

1. Shake out – Swinging a sledgehammer into a metal frame to release the casting
2. Grinding- holding a 15 # grinder removing excess metal and cleaning up the surfaces

• Helping a pour- operate the crane, skim or hold the single side of the shank
• Making local deliveries
• Cutting Bar stock
• Loading a customer package
• Forklift experience or willing to be trained
• Must be willing to shower at the end of the day. Wear a respirator and other PPE. Must have a clean-shaven face to make sure the respirator has direct contact

• Any kind of industrial background and experience with a shop, foundry, farm, warehouse, or mechanical work
• Can be less than a year of previous experience, as long as applicant is willing to learn the trade of Foundry work
