Nights (12A - 8:30A)

You Will:


  • \t
  • ·Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.
    \t
  • ·Assure positive sample, block and slide identification Prepare and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
    \t
  • ·Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
    \t
  • ·Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
    \t
  • ·Utilize independent judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance.
    \t
  • ·Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
    \t
  • ·Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.

  • You Should Have:
    \t
  • · Minimum two years of acute care Histology Tech experience
    \t
  • · High School Diploma
    \t
  • · Completion of an accredited program in Histo-technology OR Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology OR Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)

  • · Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples.
    \t
  • · Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist.
    \t
  • · Demonstrate good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens.
    \t
  • · General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent communication, team work and organizational skills.
    \t
  • · Ability to train others Effective and proactive problem solving and decision-making skills
