Work can be performed by a Nurse Practitioner.
We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process.
In performing Disability Assessments, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran.
You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
The Nurse Practitioner DOES NOT make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations.
This role ONLY performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will NOT treat, and you will NOT prescribe medication in this position.
This position performs Disability Assessments on 3-5 Veterans per day.
Schedule 2 days per week (8am-4pm), Monday & Friday
This is an IN-PERSON position.
Key Attributes
- Interested in performing Independent Medical Assessments.
- Able to analyze data from the medical records and exam findings to complete the questionnaire and form medical opinions.
- Skilled in time management, able to stay on task and meet requirements.
- Proficiently use a computer.
Requirements
- Must hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.

Performing Disability Assessments
Nurse Practitioner license: Must hold a current and unrestricted license
Expertise in performing medical assessments: Experience in assessing medical conditions and making medical opinions
Time management skills: Able to manage schedule and meet requirements
Proficient computer use: Skilled in electronic record-keeping and web portal usage
Focused physical exam capabilities: Perform focused physical exams on United States Veterans
In-person position: All work is performed in a clinical setting
Disability Assessment experience: Familiarity with disability assessment procedures and VA requirements
No medication prescribing or treatment: This position is for Disability Assessments only, not treatment or medication
Ability to work with a diverse patient population: Experience working with veterans is preferred
Strong communication skills: Able to convey medical opinions and findings effectively
