JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer
PLANT/DEPARTMENT: Kingsford DIRECTED BY: Quality Systems Manager
IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Program Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Suppliers, Customers
DIRECTS: As assigned
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Investigate, analyze, and resolve internal and customer quality issues by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Performs champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with the plants and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
- Initiates, tracks, and works with appropriate departments to timely resolve PCARs.
- Supports delivery, warranty, and quality improvement actions to achieve the highest quality and customer satisfaction levels.
- Identifies unique contract quality requirements and assure they are flowed down to supply chain and manufacturing.
- Conducts internal audits to identify and correct procedural, product, or process deficiencies.
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement projects.
- Drives a "Zero Defect" mentality within the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3 to 5 years in a manufacturing (weld/machining) environment
- Familiarity with a formal Quality Management System
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Works well with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to function independently of direct supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- ISO lead auditor certified or ability to obtain lead auditor qualification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Job often requires long hours of sitting/computer usage.
