Job Posting Description

The Ophthalmic Technician II:

Performs basic eye examinations under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. This includes; brief medical history, age-appropriate visual acuity, lensometry, tonometry, and instillation of eye drops.

Serves as member of multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient visits and collaborates with clinical staff to ensure efficient clinical flow.

Ensures the clinical environment is well-stocked, well-maintained, and compliant with hospital safety guidelines.

Performs clinical room preparation and supply ordering as needed.

Keeps informed of Joint Commission patient safety goals.

Assists department with compliance and works within departmental and hospital standards.

Assists in explaining treatments or procedures to patients and their families.

Ensures that educational materials are created and available as assigned

To qualify, you must have:

High School Diploma / GED required

Current registration as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA certification) required

2 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician or equivalent required

Experience in pediatric ophthalmology preferred
