Job Overview:
*Basic Minimum Requirements:*
* Ability to read and write.
* Must pass a training program to operate equipment on packaging floor.
* Must be able to operate a fork truck and pass the required fork truck-training program.
* Must have three (3) years on-the-job experience as a packaging mechanic.
* Experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing packaging equipment, and/or removing pneumatic, mechanical and electrical components. Experience with packaging line changeovers.
* Able to express basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic principles.
* Experience working with mechanical systems and components, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, drive shafts, sprockets, and roller chains, etc.
* Experience working with hydraulic systems and components, including cylinders, pumps, valves, motors, etc.
* Working knowledge of welding, drilling, and milling.
* Ability to operate shop equipment such as grinders, belt sanders, drill press, band saws, hydraulic press, electric drills, etc.
* Must have basic standard and metric hand tools (e.g. sockets, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, wire cutters).
* Must be able to work any shift, and overtime as required.

*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Basic knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Experience rebuilding and overhauling packaging equipment.
* Experience troubleshooting and running computer based diagnostics
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical manuals.
* Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing photo electrical registration systems.
* Working knowledge of Lathe operation.
