Carpenter Helper

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter Helper to join our team. As a Carpenter Helper, you will assist in various carpentry tasks, including mold remediation, trim carpentry, fabricating, and restoration projects. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry and work alongside experienced professionals.

Duties:
- Assist carpenters with various tasks such as measuring, cutting, and assembling materials
- Assist in trim carpentry work, including installing baseboards, crown molding, and door frames
- Fabricate and install cabinets, shelves, and other wooden structures
- Support restoration projects by repairing damaged structures and restoring them to their original condition
- Assist with electrical tasks such as running wires and installing fixtures under the guidance of a licensed electrician
- Collaborate with the construction estimating team to gather project requirements and prepare cost estimates
- Assist with masonry work, including mixing mortar, laying bricks or stones, and applying finishes
- Help with tile laying projects by preparing surfaces, cutting tiles, and applying grout
- Contribute to remodeling projects by demolishing existing structures and assisting in the installation of new components

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in carpentry or related field is preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of carpentry tools and equipment
- Familiarity with construction safety practices and procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks such as lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods of time

Note:

Uniform requirements - Plain polo any color (no writing or logos) and jeans or pants (no holes/no cutoffs) and slip resistant shoes

Will work in federal buildings through the maintenance department of the City of Baton Rouge

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
