ProspectBlue has partnered with a family owned and operated construction company seeking an experience Accounts Payable Specialist to join their growing team.

Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team in the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable function, handling invoices from vendors, and ensuring timely and accurate payments. The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining strong relationships with construction suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Invoice Processing:

Receive, review, and process a high volume of invoices related to construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Verify that all supporting documentation, such as purchase orders and receiving reports, is complete before processing invoices.

Job Costing:

Allocate expenses to specific construction projects and cost centers accurately.
Work closely with project managers and other departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Payment Processing:

Prepare and process weekly or monthly payment runs, including checks, ACH transfers, and wire payments.
Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies promptly to ensure smooth payment processes.

Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:

Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with construction vendors and subcontractors.
Collaborate with the procurement team to address any issues related to invoicing, pricing, or contract terms.

Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure compliance with relevant construction industry regulations and internal controls.
Maintain accurate and organized records of invoices, payments, and supporting documentation.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in accounts payable within the construction industry is highly preferred.
Familiarity with construction accounting software and job costing principles.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and team interactions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
