Telecommunication Installation Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES: Telecom Equipment Installation Technician will perform a wide variety of field activities ranging from basic, intermediate to advanced system work including installing, maintaining, and servicing telecommunication equipment for a variety of carriers.

· Perform in-process and final quality inspections (Virtual Audits).

· Proficient with all documentation related tasks.

· Verify and update connectivity records in Excel.

· Follow wiring lists for replacement cabling.

· Remove any unused or non-functional equipment.

· Disassemble equipment frames, cable racks and other auxiliary frames.

· Open and close cable holes when necessary.

· Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of central office equipment.

· Perform preventive maintenance and service activation and deactivation of office equipment.

· Use manual and power tools safely and effectively to perform installations and repairs.

· Perform inspection and maintenance activities.

· Provide written and verbal updates to customers and internal team.

· Identify, label, measure, terminate and physically route the cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data in various technical spaces.

· Conduct testing and document performance characteristics of hardware and software; determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system.

· Perform advanced test and turn-up as well as other integration activities.

· Resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise.

· Install frame and rack builds.

· Clean and scope fiber connectors.

· Document light levels and other readings with job specific testing equipment.

· Install ironwork (ladder rack) cable paths, horizontal and vertical pathways for fiber optic cable management systems and create a physical cable path for equipment and cable design.

· Test and evaluate systems to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system.

· Run multiple cable types including coaxial, power, fiber, and network transmission.

· Read, analyze, and interpret detailed specifications and drawings, blueprints, schematics, and method of procedures (MOPs)

· Complete operations paperwork (e.g., expense reports, timesheets, job documentation, etc.) including daily job status reports as requested.

· Act as a customer contact; interface with customers and local supervisors regarding project status.

· Interact with all members of the organization including Installation, Engineering, and Project Management.

· Remove trash and debris from job sites daily, making sure that all job materials are removed prior to trash removal.

· Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of central office equipment.

· Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.

· Perform other duties as requested.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 - $34.00 per hour
