Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

A not-for-profit social services agency is seeking Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors for their Hempstead, NY location. They provide excellent social services to individuals struggling with substance use. The counselor’s role encompasses offering counseling, vocational aid, and employment support to clients referred from drug/alcohol treatment programs.

The base pay range for this position is $25 to $28 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer. *Responsibilities:*
* Complete client intake procedures to gather necessary information for commencing the counseling process.
* Offer continuous individual and group counseling sessions aimed at formulating vocational and educational strategies, considering educational background, employment history, expressed interests, and career exploration endeavors. Conduct follow-up counseling meetings to assess advancements toward predefined objectives.
* Administer, evaluate, and interpret aptitude, interest, and work sample assessments as needed.
* Act as a liaison between the agency and vocational entities.
* Manage and update individual client case files.

*Requirements:*
* Bachelors Degree in psychology, counseling, sociology or related field
* 2 years of prior experience counseling clients with alcohol/substance abuse
