OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:

 

Quality Inspectors are to inspect, test, verify, and validate product and product packaging to insure only acceptable product is shipped per our Customer specifications and /or governing party standards and requirements. Quality Inspectors are to isolate unacceptable product for repacking or scrap. Quality Inspectors must be committed to SQF, GMP and Food Safety.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1.  Follow all plant policies and procedures including Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Documentation Practices and Safety Rules.
  2. Perform quality checks on all lines three times per shift, and as needed.
  3. Possess a well-rounded knowledge of quality on all products; must be able to identify and isolate any quality or food safety concerns.
  4. Communicate within department and with Production/Warehouse/Maintenance regarding any problems or issues that need to be addressed as required.
  5. Responsible to ensure that First Piece Inspections (FPI) are done in a timely manner and that the Quality Docket at line is correct and being followed.
  6. Perform product testing as needed.
  7. Able to operate the INSTRON machine for compression testing on all applicable finished products.
  8. Must be able to use and read measurement devices such as gram scale, dial indicator, micrometer and/or calipers.
  9. Must be able to perform checks on measurement devices to ensure accuracy prior to use.
  10. Must be able to perform minor troubleshooting as needed.
  11. Responsible for receiving inspection of incoming poly and KD supplies as needed.
  12. Thoroughly and accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation.
  13. Perform weekly or monthly inspections as assigned.
  14. Responsible for First Piece Approvals (FPA) and to supply the machine with the proper inspection material, i.e. Product Data Cards.
  15. Able to perform static checks as required.
  16. Housekeeping – keep work area clean and organized.
  17. Perform Ash testing on foam sheet extrusion samples using the furnace.
  18. Perform Moist testing of APET material using KF Titrator.
  19. Responsible for receiving inspections of incoming poly supplies.

Test applicable products for leaks, lid-fit, and strength at the prescribed frequency

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / REQUIRMENTS:

 

1.Stationary standing: 75% of the shift.

2.Walking: 50% of the shift.

3.Touching/Handling Product: 100% of the shift.

4.Sitting: 50% of the shift.

5.Useing Controls/Tools: 10% of the shift.

6.Reaching-(Hand & Arm): 75% of the shift.

7.Shifting/Twisting/Rotating core: 75% of the shift.

8.Climb or Balances: 5% of the shift.

9.Stoop, Kneel, Crouch or Crawl: 10% of the shift.

10.Talk or hear: 100% of the shift.

11.Smell: 5% of the shift.

12.Ability to lift 25 pounds/Max.

13.Employees may wear corrective lenses (with protective safety over glasses) PPE or use our Safety Prescription Program (Ask your HR Representative).

14.Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

SAFETY:

 

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, regulations, and policy procedures.  Employee’s responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

  1. Compliance with all facility rules and regulations.

2.Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their Supervisor.

3.Maintain floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees, who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.

4.Communicate to Management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.

5.Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)/properly and reporting any defective PPE.

6.Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.

 

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Employees will be working in a Manufacturing and/or Warehouse environment in all types of weather.

Conditions may range from and include : hot, cold, humid, loud, working near airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic.

 

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

 Quality control experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required.  Prospective employees should have good math, reading, and writing skills and some computer skills.
