As the SERE Manager for Schneider-Electric's Oxford manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements, including state, federal, and Schneider-Electric regulations. You will provide EHS support to operations, including engineering, non-manufacturing, and manufacturing, and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to establish and maintain EHS programs that promote a strong safety culture.
What will you do in this position?
- Ensure compliance with all EHS regulations and maintain a strong safety culture within the Oxford facility.
- Develop and implement effective EHS programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate compliance issues and improve overall EHS performance.
- Provide training and support to employees to ensure they understand and comply with EHS regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards and non-compliances.
- Collaborate with the union workforce to address EHS concerns and promote a positive working relationship.
- Develop and maintain relationships with union representatives to ensure open communication and effective resolution of EHS issues.
- Work with the union to develop and implement joint EHS initiatives and programs, such as training and safety committees.
- Provide technical EHS support to management and the safety committee, and lead the site safety committee.
- Participate in the site's Continuous Improvement/Lean/5S activities and provide recommendations for improving EHS practices within the facility.
- Serve as a liaison between the EHS department and the union to ensure effective communication and collaboration on EHS issues.
Ideal Business Experience:
- At least six years' experience in an EHS position, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in electrical safety, machine guarding, training, and ergonomics is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing EHS programs and improving compliance in a manufacturing. environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Experience working with unions and collective bargaining agreements is highly desirable.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- B.S. Degree in Environment, Health, and Safety Management or equivalent degree is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EHS guidelines and regulations, including OSHA and Ohio state regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively through all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with union representatives and employees.
- Ability to travel to other Schneider-Electric facilities and attend training sessions as required.
- Familiarity with Lean and 5S principles and ability to apply them in an EHS context.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
