This Finance Director leads Vanguard’s FP&A Personal Investor Division’s planning and reporting team on behalf of the Business Unit CFO and in support of the Business Unit CEO.  The responsibilities of this role include overseeing, managing, guiding, and developing several deliverables for the business unit such as the long-term strategic and fiscal plan, annual budget, quarterly budget refreshes and reporting to the Board of Directors and enterprise CEO and CFO, as well as monthly reporting to the Business Unit CEO and team. This team also owns several key financial and strategic analyses such as Personal Investor’s client lifetime value and client profitability models as well as special projects. 

The right person for this role thrives in an environment that requires strong executive communication, coordination across finance and business teams, and the ability to support strategic business decision with data and facts in any ambiguous environment.

The Finance Director:

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Develops analytic methodologies for evaluating, quantifying, and forecasting assets, revenue, and expenses. Partners with senior leaders to determine strategies and enhance performance drivers.
  • Drives financial planning processes, annual operating plan, and long term strategic plan. Establishes frameworks for reporting and key metrics, and defines the methodology for product and customer costing/pricing models.
  • Develops financial models to assist in tactical and strategic decision making. Implements systematic approach to maintain and continuously improve the models. Provides support and input into client and product pricing.
  • Develops business case analysis for investment initiatives. Assesses the market and competitors to guide investment decisions and advise on market trends.
  • Oversees the pricing governance framework for new and existing products. Leads the process for review and approval of client fees.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


What it takes:

  • Eight years related work experience, with at least Three years financial analysis experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Finance or Accounting degree preferred. Graduate degree preferred.
  • CPA, CFM, CMA, or other financial designation preferred.
