The Data De-identification Product Architect will be responsible for oversight of the delivery of capabilities aimed at the de-identification of data and how we manage and use sensitive data both internally and externally with Third Parties. The Product Architect will partner with Technical and Domain specific experts in CDAO, ES&F, CTO, GTO ESM and other areas to stand up processes and frameworks aimed at reducing risk and improving our overall data defense posture.
The Product Architect will work closely with product owner(s) and product team(s) in the definition of roadmaps and architectures for a product or product family, according to business strategies and enterprise architecture. This role will provide expert level IT architecture and technical lead services, including the direction, evaluation, selection, configuration, implementation, and integration of new and existing technologies.
The Product Architect owns the architectural decisions for the team and this role is the visionary force behind the technical solutions for the Data Defense Office. For this role, the Product Architect will be part of the Data Defense Office and will help allow Vanguard to:
Find and understand our data better
Effectively manage how we use sensitive data both with suppliers and inside Vanguard
Drive improved data anonymization and classification to reduce risk
Prepare for data & privacy regulations
Enable quicker time to insights, with the right level of controls and access in place
Focus on enabling an automated, sustainable process throughout the entire data management lifecycle.
This role :
Owns the ongoing product roadmaps and architecture, according to business strategies and enterprise architecture
Collaborates with the broader architecture community to ensure that their products align with target architectures and technology roadmaps and provides input on required platform capabilities and improving development tools/processes
Works with other product teams, technology experts, and business stakeholders to provide functional support
Assists in the evaluation of vendors and products and participates in build vs. buy discussions with the product teams
Acts as highest-level technical expert, resolving issues, assessing any potential risks and identifying solutions
Provides technical guidance to product team(s) as appropriate
Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects
Assists in the development of and management of architecture governance process(es)
Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies
Prepares and presents product-related documentation
Mentors less experienced crew members and contributes to overall development of the organization
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of technology architect experience.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
Strong, demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Broad knowledge of the financial services industry and analytics ecosystem.
Good understanding and experience with Data Discovery, Data Privacy, and Data Anonymization concepts and techniques.
Good understanding and exposure to AWS ETL services like Glue, EMR, Glue catalog.
Experience and expertise in engineering products using modern cloud-based services and platforms such as Glue ETL, Glue Catalog, S3, Python, Pyspark, SQL, Attunity and other adjacent tools used for data exploration such as AWS Athena and Presto.
Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, DevOps, and Infrastructure as code utilizing tools such as Atlassian Bamboo, Github Actions, AWS Cloud Formation, pytest, Cucumber, Splunk, AWS Cloudwatch and other testing and monitoring tools.
Hands-on programming, testing and integration of product deliverables as required
Expert knowledge of the following technical lead practices and concepts:
Full product life cycle
IT vendor product assessment
Architecture design
Wide range of cloud and emerging technologies within technical specialty
Performance and stress testing; resiliency and highly availability
Security architecture and cost optimization techniques
Quality assurance methodology and Inspections
Technical standards and deliverables
Migration and integration
Estimating, including design, development/purchase, and installation
Production acceptance (including elevations), data modeling, data sharing, reusable components, and related advanced development practices
Nice to have:
Experience with BigID and Secupi tools is a plus.
AWS Certification is a plus
