Overview:
The Medical Laboratory Technician I is part of the provider care team who helps with diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through the use of technical and scientific knowledge. This position is responsible for accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests. The Medical Laboratory Technician I evaluates and reports test results while assuring compliance and meeting all regulatory requirements consistent with the quality of a World Class Laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Technician I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service in all internal and external customer interactions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Be a high school graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician). OR Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent and have documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens.
- Experience: 1-year acceptable clinical laboratory experience.
- Preferred Education: Associate's degree in chemistry, biology or other science related field that meets requirements for certification agency requirements.
- Preferred Certifications: MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.
