Cloud Engineer – Data Transmission Services

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to grow and learn while driving major impact for a critical platform at Vanguard? The Data Transmission Services team is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our expanding engineering team. This position will focus on enabling our MFT product migration from on-prem into the AWS cloud while helping drive adoption of native AWS cloud tools and services. In this role you will have the opportunity to influence technology direction and transform team functions within GTO.

This position will require significant experience with AWS cloud technologies to support infrastructure related cloud migration and implementations. In addition, this position will require knowledge of the Windows and Linux platforms to support on-premises applications and infrastructure.  MFT solution knowledge is preferred, but not required.

This hybrid role (Tues-Wed-Thurs in office) can be based in Wayne, PA, or Charlotte, NC.

In this role you will:

  • Provide senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases.
  • Integrate third party products.
  • Translate technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Write programs, develop code, test artifacts, and produces reports. Employ software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.
  • Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provide follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.
  • Thoroughly understand software development methodology. Thoroughly understand development architecture standards. Train and mentor staff with less experience. Resolve elevated issues.
  • Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Performs systems analysis activities.
  • Thoroughly understand client business functions and technology needs. Have a broad understanding of Vanguard's technologies, tools, and applications, including those that interface with business area and systems.
  • Interface with cross functional team members and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.

What it takes:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Eight years' experience in technical specialty, including three to four years' hardware/software configuration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge in any or all the following technologies: Python, Ansible/Ansible Tower, Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git, Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience architecting and building solutions within AWS Cloud technologies (CloudWatch, Lambdas, EC2, s3, etc).
  • Experience with Axway MFT, Axway B2Bi or other MFT solutions a plus.
