Come join the Community Engagement team at Girl Scouts of Alaska as a Community Engagement Specialist The Community Engagement Specialist acts as a first contact for new members connecting with Girl Scouts for the first time and sets the tone for the rest of their membership experience. This position also acts as a contact for community partners such as schools, libraries, and recreation centers. This position will focus on cultivating relationships and collaborating with local schools and community based youth organizations to increase Girl Scout visibility and engagement. The Community Engagement Specialist is accountable for generating qualified youth and adult volunteer leads. This person is based in the council office in Anchorage, with travel throughout the council region (SC, SE, and SW Alaska).The right candidate:Is goal-oriented, a team player, and has a positive attitude.Enjoys working a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and occasional weekends.Is comfortable in different settings that involve public speaking.Has the ability and willingness to adapt to an ever-changing environment.Has experience with and enjoys working with children.Feels comfortable communicating on the phone, in email, and via text.Has a proven record of functioning as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight and take initiative; demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, self-management, and organization.You Are:Committed to the policies and mission of the Girl Scout organization and willing to become a Girl Scout member.A team player.Able to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with volunteers, parents, staff, girls and families.Able to work independently with minimal oversight, effectively manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.Able to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.Able to organize and carry out a multifaceted workload.Understanding of and committed to organizational diversity.You Need:2 years of successful experience with recruiting and retaining volunteers.Experience working with kids.Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills oral and written, including the ability to articulate the mission and goals of GSAK to the community.Must have outstanding customer service skills including speaking in front of groups, calling potential members on the phone, and working with community members to recruit girls and volunteers.Comfortable leading and speaking to groups of various sizes and ages.Strong technical skills, with experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), as well as the ability to quickly learn new proprietary technology.Access to automobile in working condition. Proof of meeting state requirements regarding auto licensing, drivers license, and liability insurance.You Will:Travel throughout council jurisdiction as needed.Available for regular nights and weekend work, dependent on organizational needs.Sit at a desk and work on a computer and talk on the phone for long periods of time.Manually operate office equipment.Lift and carry at least 35 lbs.Complete an annual background check .Girl Scouts of Alaska is an equal opportunity employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
