We are searching for a Chemical Production Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of chemical manufacturing, driving process improvements and contributing to the production of high-performance chemicals. Ideal candidates will bring a robust technical background, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a strong ability to adapt and learn quickly in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Chemical Engineering role.
  • Experience with root cause problem solving.
  • Proficient in managing Change of Control/Corrective and Preventative Action (MOC/CAPA) processes.
  • Project management experience coordinating between various departments/stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with process unit operations and controls; reactors, distillation, polymerization, esterification, filtration, dryers, twin-screw extrusion, heat treatment.
  • ISO9001 / EFfCI / GMP production experience.
  • Ability to conduct investigations (customer complaints, off-spec production, equipment failures, production process upsets, etc.).
  • Ability to be taught and quickly learn common unit operations used in the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Expertise in exothermic reactions, vacuum dryers, and powder handling/packaging operations.
  • Experience with batch polymerizations, oligomerization reactions, esterification, and trans-esterification hydrolysis reactions.
  • Knowledge of distillation, filtration (e.g., cloth filter presses, belt filters), and drying processes (e.g., rotary and spray dryers).
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, PHA, MOC, P&IDs.
  • Experience in writing or revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Essential Duties:

  • Involved in day-to-day production support for batch/continuous chemical operations.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving process/equipment issues.
  • Track production yields and perform mass balances.
  • Involved with production and material planning, packaging, shipping, and receiving.
  • Monitor and enhance the efficiency of chemical production processes.
  • Address and resolve production challenges to improve continuous operations.
  • Manage process improvement projects.
  • Collect and analyze process data to identify root causes of productivity, quality, and equipment issues.
  • Implement corrective actions based on analytical findings.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tools.
  • Correlate final product quality with production data.
  • Generate corrective actions and ensure continuous improvements in safety, productivity, quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Lead and manage process improvement projects, ensuring effective coordination across multiple departments.
  • Support process downtime and runtime.
  • Implement change management processes including MOC, PSSR, P&ID, hazard reviews, SOPs, SPC, SQC.
  • Help teach/train Plant Supervisors and Operators.
  • Develop or create training plans for these positions.
  • Assist with training of operations teams.
  • Participate in PSM initiatives and audits.
  • Lead incident investigations and problem-solving sessions (safety, quality, production, reliability, etc.).

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
