The Systems Engineering (SE) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).


The Land Warfare and Missile Defense Systems (LWMDS) is looking for an exceptional Senior Principal Systems Engineer  to join our department.  We lead all aspects of Systems Engineering that facilitate the development of complex systems to support various Raytheon programs around the world. The LWMDS department supports Raytheon by cultivating a world-class group of systems thinkers who work together as a team to architect technical solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges. Key technical domains include Radar Systems and Sensor Netting, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, Battlespace Integration, and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers.

This is an Onsite role in Huntsville, Alabama

What You will Do :

  • Your will perform day-to-day high level individual contributor engineering tasks associated with the products we support
  • You will assist the team leader with developing and mentoring junior team members
  • You will lead projects and interact with engineering team members and the customer
  • You will provide technical oversight of employees, monitor program execution, and provide radar system subject matter expertise in direct support of program efforts and proposal activities. 

Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and ten (10) years or more of documented Engineering work and/or academic experience in the following areas:
    • Experience with Missile Defense Systems or other related systems engineering experience
    • Experience with Models Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer :

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, or Math
  • Experience with Integrated Air and Missile Defense systems including radar, interceptor, Command and Control systems
  • Experience using DOORs
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external customers
  • Experience writing reports and presenting information to internal and external stakeholders

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
