Main Function:Using clinical judgment and available resources, approves the prescribing of medications for patients filling prescriptions at FF Thompson outpatient pharmacy locations. Oversees and directly contributes to compounding, preparation and dispensing of medications for patients in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations for Pharmacy practice. Supervises pharmacy technicians.
Required Job Specific Competencies:
The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor has direct supervision and management responsibilities specific to the Outpatient Pharmacy location.
Participates in the interview and hiring decisions for staff members assigned to the relevant area of supervision.
Also assists Outpatient Pharmacy Manager in identifying measures to improve employee satisfaction, reward and recognition to promote employee retention.
Handles conflict in a direct, timely and professional manner.
Disciplinary action, when required, is handled confidentially and is well documented with an action plan for correction when appropriate.
Participates regularly and routinely in interdepartmental meetings, projects and policy making. This is necessary to successfully conduct the business of the functional unit under their supervision and management. The Outpatient Pharmacy Manager should be aware of all ongoing interdepartmental planning and activities, but may not need to be directly involved.
Delegates tasks to those under their supervision. Establishes a plan and expectations for delegated duties, and follow-up to make sure they are being completed according to the plan.
Performs duties of Outpatient Pharmacist
Possessing in-depth knowledge of medications & their uses, the pharmacist will provide professional services & support in the following distributive & clinical areas:
Medication distribution and compounding
Drug Information
Education and Resource Materials
Drug Usage
Adverse Drug Reactions
Medication Error Prevention
Nursing/Pharmacy Liaison
Clinical Computer Applications
Medication Use Evaluation
Qualifications:
Required: Current New York State Pharmacist registration
Accredited continuing education as required/defined by New York State
Basic Life Support Certification
Required: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D from accredited Pharmacy program
Required: Minimum of 3 years in ambulatory pharmacy practice
Preferred: 5 years in ambulatory pharmacy practice and 1 year of managerial experience
Pay Range: $53.30 -$60.00
Starting Pay Rate: Based on experience
