Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities and lower carbon emissions. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational after two years of construction. The new steel mill will employee 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Job Functions:

The role of the Metallurgist will be to establish a culture of safety awareness, team development, quality production, and continuous improvement. The candidate will also be in charge of championing process, quality, cost improvements, as well as ​​​​​​develop new value-added products. The Metallurgist will work with customers to resolve issues and further develop Nucor’s business.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent engineering degree.
Currently in process of completing a Nucor Internship (or) A Nucor Internship Rotation has been completed in the past 12 months

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Hot Roll, Cold Roll, and/or Galvanized sheet steel specifications.
