Overview:

The Licensed Respiratory Care Specialist is accountable for delivering comprehensive pulmonary care to critically ill, non-critical, and chronically ill patients across all age groups, including adults, children, and neonates, under the supervision of a physician.

This role involves executing a variety of technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the healthcare facility. The specialist will conduct patient evaluations and develop tailored respiratory care strategies.

Our healthcare facility is dedicated to providing specialized services that cater to the distinct medical requirements of our patients, ranging from intensive care to emergency services, and advanced treatment options for various conditions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to the established OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Emergency response protocols;
  • Airway management techniques;
  • Administration of aerosolized medications;
  • Ventilator operation and management;

Additional Duties:
  • Oral hygiene maintenance;
  • Management of airway support devices;
  • Administration of oxygen therapy and monitoring;
  • Analysis of chest imaging;
  • Blood gas sampling and evaluation;
  • EKG interpretation;
  • Thorough and accurate documentation;
  • Equipment cleaning and supply stocking as needed;
  • Participation in accreditation surveys.
  • May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader.
  • Advanced practice skills may include:

Advanced Skills:
  • Management of therapeutic gases;
  • Conducting pulmonary function assessments;
  • Assisting in bronchoscopy procedures;
  • Monitoring hemodynamic status;
  • Analyzing waveform data;
  • Conducting nocturnal SpO2 evaluations;
  • Performing polysomnography.

Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills: Must meet licensure and/or certification requirements. B. Experience: 2 – 3 years of relevant experience preferred. C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Required RT or RCP License in the state of employment, BLS certification, CRT through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), ACLS certification, PALS certification, and NRP certification.
