Job Description

Are you a college student studying health sciences and looking to gain practical healthcare experience this summer? Camp Sewataro offers an immersive Nurse Assistant position where you'll play a vital role in camper safety and health, while learning firsthand in a dynamic, youth-centered environment.


About the Role:

As a Nurse Assistant at Camp Sewataro, you’ll work closely with both our Camp Nurse's, supporting daily healthcare operations and building experience that’s ideal for aspiring healthcare professionals. This includes managing minor injuries, administering medications, supporting allergy safety, and handling camper health records. You’ll also gain valuable skills in communication, emergency response, and youth care, all within a fast-paced, hands-on setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care: Assist with treating and caring for campers and staff, handling medical issues as they arise with confidence and care.
  • Health Administration: Support health record maintenance, organize medications, and help oversee daily nurse office hours.
  • Emergency & Safety Management: Assist with allergy safety and response plans, create and stock first aid kits, and learn to communicate with parents about health-related needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside seasoned healthcare staff, camp leaders, and enthusiastic counselors in a supportive environment that values youth wellbeing and camper connection.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Required: CPR and First Aid certification
  • Preferred: Coursework or experience in healthcare, nursing, or similar fields; experience with youth care a plus
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills; a passion for youth and health

Details:

  • Dates: Part-time end of May to June, then Full-time, June 23rd-August 15th; extended hours for select camp events
