We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a Class A General Contractor in the federal contracting sector based in Norfolk, VA. The CFO will participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team. They will be responsible for the company's administrative, financial, and risk management operations and will serve as the organization's CAO.


*Candidates must be local to Norfolk, VA, or open to relocation.


Responsibilities include:

  • Development of the company's financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to the strategy, and control systems designed to preserve company assets and report financial and operational results
  • Facilitation of the strategic business plan implementation
  • Management of accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury functions, including supervision of employees responsible for those functions
  • Overseeing the reporting and financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations
  • Management of functions outsourced to third parties
  • Overseeing the company's transaction processing systems
  • Generation and execution of the integration plan for all acquisitions
  • Ensuring that all government filings are accurate and made in a timely manner and that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Performing risk management and mitigating key elements of the company's risk profile
  • Reporting risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors
  • Maintaining relations with external auditors and investigating their findings and recommendations
  • Maintaining banking relationships and representing the company with investment bankers and investors
  • Monitoring cash balances and cash forecasts and arranging for debt and equity financing


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or related field
  • 10+ years in a financial leadership role, ideally within the construction industry
  • Federal government contracting experience
  • Experience developing and managing a team
  • Experience developing a financial and operational strategy
  • Experience implementing operational best practices and incorporating them into planning and metrics
  • Risk management experience that includes compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, constructing and monitoring reliable control systems
