Job Summary and QualificationsThe Echocardiographer II assists with stress testing and other non-invasive cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing procedures upon the request of the physician and according to departmental demands.
- Performs noninvasive and semi-invasive cardiac ultrasound procedures including, transthoracic (with contract agent as needed), transesophageal (including intraoperative TEE), stress echo (treadmill or pharmacological), cardiac Doppler, and color flow Doppler.
- Responsible for accurate measurements of cardiac chambers and valve areas for physician interpretation.
- Prepares and administers cardiac contrast agents as needed. • Responsible for performing quality echocardiographic exams.
- Enters echocardiographic data into structured reporting template and prepares for physician interpretation.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment. Documents required data.
- Responsible for high-level disinfection and sterilization of TEE probes.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. • Other duties as assigned.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (R, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- One year of Cardiac Ultrasound Technology experience required
