Our client is one of the global top packaging manufacturers. With over $3 billion in revenue, they are growing 5x faster than the overall packaging industry and have been around for over 100 years.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Play a key role in managing outside tax preparers to achieve maximum quality while incurring minimal fees.
  2. Manage annual US income tax return process, including ownership of taxable income calculations and managing timelines.
  3. Assist VP of Tax and local Finance teams in identifying and executing global tax planning.
  4. Prepare/review quarterly and annual tax provisions. Ensure global tax reporting is completed timely and accurately.
  5. Oversee global tax compliance by working with global consultant and local Finance teams.
  6. Oversee North American sales and use tax process from beginning to end including overseeing Avalara products to mitigate sales tax exposure potential.
  7. Design and execute future state of U.S. sales tax processes.
  8. Oversee Tax Analyst to ensure monthly sales and use tax, personal property tax, gross receipts taxes, etc. are filed timely and accurately and that the tax exemptions are managed with assistance by the Credit team.
  9. Manage tax audits and ensure positive outcomes, including negotiating with auditors.
  10. Assist VP of Tax in developing internal control processes and procedures to meet or exceed requirements.
  11. Assist VP of Tax in M&A and onboarding acquired companies into tax processes and ensuring no gaps in compliance.
  12. Actively evaluate processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement and streamlining cumbersome or manually-intensive work.
  13. Model the Values and serve as a champion for the Culture as defined in the employer and employee portions of the T-Chart.

Qualified Professionals Will Possess:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA or Master of Science in Taxation required (both CPA and MST preferred).
  2. 12+ years of increasingly analytical experience (Public accounting a plus, but not required).
  3. Proven success in developing and leading people using a collaborative management style in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  4. Proven technical tax skills, a strong process orientation, demonstrated leadership and a drive to streamline processes and enhance the quality of tax outputs.
  5. Knowledge of various areas of taxation including US federal and state income, international and transaction taxes.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability and desire to interface cross-functionally and with outside service providers.
  7. Robust analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong drive to fix processes while continuing to be a great internal customer service provider.
  8. Ability to be flexible and work well with the team, both internal and external.
  9. Detail and project oriented with a proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver results.
  10. Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Working Environment:

Corporate office headquarters in downtown Chicago. Hybrid work schedule.
