What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise the daily activities of the assembly department.
- Train, coach, and develop assemblers to achieve high levels of quality and productivity.
- Assign work based on production priorities and customer deadlines.
- Ensure products are assembled accurately according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Monitor quality throughout the assembly process and address issues before they reach the customer.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Shipping to maintain efficient workflow.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Track production progress and communicate status to management.
- Assist with hands-on assembly work when needed.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing assembly experience.
- 2+ years in a lead, supervisor, or team leader role.
- Experience working in sheet metal fabrication, aerospace, defense, medical device, or other precision manufacturing environments preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly documentation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable using ERP or manufacturing software to track production.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Electro-mechanical assembly
- Mechanical assembly
- Hardware installation
- Riveting and fastening
- PEM hardware
- Precision sheet metal products
- ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement
- Root Cause Analysis
- 5S implementation
