ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required.\n

  • Ensure all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules, and regulations are followed and met\n
  • Knowledge and efficiency of heavy shipyard construction welding in all positions using approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) determined by HPSI and Classification Society\n

    • Welding process includes:\n
      • \n
      • FCAW - Flux Cored Arc Welding\n
      • SMAW - Shielded Metal Arc Welding\n
      • SAW - Submerged Arc Welding\n
      • Automated Welding Process (use of tractors)\n
      • Stainless Steel Fillet Welding\n
      • Padding and preparing weld joints per WPS\n
      • Carbon Arc Gouging\n
      • Note: Not inclusive, shall be determined by vessel specification and classification rules\n
      \n
    \n
  • Knowledge, understanding, and demonstration of interpreting approved WPS set forth at Hanwha Philly Shipyard\n
  • Knowledge and ability on how to use all welding-related tools, including basic troubleshooting and maintaining welding equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operation\n
  • Welder must proficiently demonstrate welding ability through performance testing as determined by vessel project and classification\n
  • Welder shall perform internal quality checks of their work performance to ensure quality standards are achieved. Be able to do their quality checks of their welds daily\n
  • Welder must maintain their individual NDT rejection set forth by Hanwha Philly Shipyard and Classification Society\n
  • May be trained and required to weld using automated welding systems\n
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n
\n
\n
  • \n
  • Workmanship assembly - Multi-position 4.5mm (+1.0 mm/-0.5mm) fillet welds\n
  • Grind a weld without leaving scarred surface\n
  • Requires Bend Test of 400mm long Vertical and Horizontal Groove\n
  • Requires Bend Tests of 400mm long test coupons in accordance with Classification Society Rules\n

\nThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.WORK ENVIRONMENT\n

\nEnvironmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes, and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.\n
